Symptom

You want to specify in detail what permissions a database user has for a database. For example, you want to give a user read-only permissions, but not allow insert or delete commands.

Solution

1. Log in to the webspace control panel.

2. Click the “Databases” tab.

3. See the database name display for more information about the database. Among other things, a field "User:" followed by one or more user names is shown. Click on the username. Alternatively, on the right side of the page in the menu border, you will find a "User Administration" entry that allows you to view and control all database user accounts that you have set up.

4. On the database user page of the user you want to change, you will either find a checkbox list of many SQL commands that you can switch on and off for the user, or a link "Show Permissions". If you do not see the checkbox list, first click on the link.

5. Set or uncheck the permissions as needed.

6. In the “Access Control” section, you can specify whether the user is allowed only for local connections, or whether remote connections can access the database through this user account.

7. Save the settings with the "OK" button.
